After mashing, I pitch yeast in the same vessel. I use the same vessel as a mash tun & fermenter & thumper (MFT). Second, when your doing your spirit run do you run your thumper again? I'm not saying that this the best/ultimate way to do it, but I'm told that my whiskey isn't undrinkable.So you strain the mash and put the strained liquid into the boiler and your spent grain into the thumper? Is it soupy or just wet squeezed grain?. My keep after cuts tend to be 70% or so, which I dilute to 62% for aging on wood.

I was thinking about doing some stripping runs then combining those 4 strips for a spirit run. I read that when doing multiple runs you have to make sure to dilute back down under 40abv for safety (I would do maybe 30abv when running again?)

There have been a lot of good things said about having a thumper on the still, higher proof, cleaner neutral, the ability to do more things/add flavors. I have the option of getting a pot still with or without a thumper. I have 20 gallons of birdwatchers ready to go and am interested in making neutral spirits. I have been doing a lot of reading (so much reading) over the past month preparing to have enough confidence for my first stilling.
